You’re right Jack, Musiala’s injury isn’t directly workload related. But that’s kind of the point. There’s always a risk of injury when you play, so the question is whether the Club World Cup is really a justified risk, especially for someone just coming back from a long spell out.
It’s football for the sake of football. And like you said, let’s see who’s still standing by the time the FIFA World Cup rolls around.
Absolutely you will. No question. The cumulative load doesn’t disappear. It just defers. Next season will be a mess for muscle injuries and ligament strains.
I'm no fan of the Club World Cup, but not sure Musiala's injury is a workload issue. (Also, he's not out for the season, is he?)
I think we'll see the disastrous workload effects throughout the coming club season, and a number of top players will miss next summer's World Cup.

Yeah, there's risk of injury whenever you take the field and it's harder to justify it for such a cynical and superficial competition.
I actually expected a more workload injuries (hamstrings, knee ligaments) in this tournament but I think we will see a wave of them next season.
